EHSGH Board President Emma Harrill Receives Award

2010 Walter S. Montgomery, Sr. Award for Young Leadership Honorees

The Walter S. Montgomery Award for Young Leaders was presented to Matthew Myers and Emma Harrill at the United Way of the Piedmont Annual Meeting.

The deserving young leaders were moved to action when their friends’ child was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease.  They spang into action to mobilize the community around this issue.  Over the course of five years, they raised $1 million to “support research and awareness for the diagnosis, treatment and cure of mitochondrial disorders and their associated health issues.”

Though the two are quick to point out the hard work of others in all of their activities, it is the leadership and enthusiasm embodied by Emma and Matthew that propels the projects and organizations in which they are involved to higher levels of success.
